Robert Dezwaan: Convicted killer missing from Mission Institution

Robert Dezwaan who killed 16-year-old in 2001 missing from prison.

A man serving an indeterminate sentence for second-degree murder has escaped from the minimum security unit at Mission Institution, reports Correctional Service Canada (CSC).

During the 3.45 p.m. count on Friday afternoon, staff members discovered that Robert Raymond Dezwaan was not accounted for.

CSC quickly contacted the Mission detachment of the Royal Canadian Mountain Police (RCMP) and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Robert Raymond Dezwaan is 53 years old, measures 6’1” in height and weighs 186 lbs. He has a fair complexion, green eyes and a bald head.

Anyone who has information about the whereabouts of Dezwaan is asked to contact their local RCMP immediately.

CSC is currently investigating the circumstances of this incident and working with the police to locate the offender’s whereabouts.
